We have been in Florida for three weeks now. We are staying with Bruce and Martha Thompson in Campbellton. They have been very generous with a week by week efficiency apartment in their attic. The only difficulty is the stairs. I am truly hoping to have a one level dwelling before long.
For the past two weeks we have been rambling over the state. We traveled to the east coast to visit Chris' parents in Port St. Lucie over the 4th of July weekend. We were also able to visit with my aunt and uncle, the Stones in Vero Beach. Last week we went to the Florida Campmeeting. I really enjoyed Brother Mooney's messages and Bro. Scott Graham's on "Hide the Children". Last weekend we were visiting Chris' aunt and uncle on Amelia Island. It has been in the upper 90's with a shower in the afternoon. I have been blessed to enjoy the Atlantic as well as the Gulf Coast beaches the past two weeks.
It is very pretty topography where we are staying now. I love to look at the big trees and the cows and horses. They have big fields of peanuts here too. I think the plants look a lot like potatoes. There are several small "Old Florida" towns nearby. The biggest is Marianna which is about 15 miles away. It has the nearest Walmart (where we are heading shortly). I have applied for administrative jobs that were posted for Graceville and Cottondale, which are both less than 10 miles away. I am surprised that the bigger districts have'nt posted hardly any openings this summer. I am going to hold out till the second week of August for an administrative position and if that doesn't come to pass, I will take the quickest teaching job I can find. I continually pray that God will close the wrong doors and open the right one,
Chris is going back to Kansas City to have his hernia surgeries redone on August 1st. Remember him in prayer.
Signing off for now.
