Care Packages for Soldiers

May 30, 2005 15:47

I'm doing a little homeschool project with Kellie during which we are gathering supplies to make care packages for soldiers. I'm talking about simple things like shaving accessories, soap, toothpaste, etc. Money for postage, as well as letters and/or cards are nice, too. We are trying to fill one female and one male package each month but I would love to see us able to do more!

If you want to contribute, please feel free! Get in touch with me.

It doesn't matter whether or not you support the war or the government. I think we all want to help out the men and women over there and do what little we can to help meet the most basic of their needs.

I am working through the info posted on anysoldier.com. You can avoid mailing anything to me if you want and can work on filling your own box(es)! It is incredible what simple things the soldiers need.

I am using the Flat Rate Priority Mail boxes that are $7.70 to mail. I have one marked "female" and one marked "male" and am stuffing the items in each box as I get them.

Things they might need:
beef jerky and other non-perishable snacks - nothing that would MELT!
panty liners for women
foot powder
skin lotions
shaving cream
deodorant
disposable razors
playing cards
shampoo
lip balm
white ankle socks (it's over 100 degrees in Iraq these days)
instant foods that can be made by mixing with water and/or microwaving

Use your imagination! Whatever you think might be handy to get in their situation.

They'd also love letters and cards voicing your support. Some kids over there aren't getting any care packages or mail at all. That's just not right!
