Since we had a day in the mid 70's (and incoming storm fronts) I challenged myself to get the outside decorations up quick, so started by cleaning out the gutters, while I was putting up the light clips.
That turned into a whole new project. It seems when we had our roof redone, there was a lot of junk, including dirt, roof 'particles' (we have the 3 dimensional fake shake,) nails, etc that lodged in the gutters. So I had to clean out the larger debris, then hose out the rest starting from the end closest to the downspout, moving to the other edge, and back again. Since I didn't trust the ladder to not move if I stepped on the roof, that entailed a lot of climbing and moving the ladder.
THEN I had to repeat the ladder process to put up the lights. Good workout, but now my legs are killing me. It's been a long time since my farm work days, and I'd forgotten just which muscles are used in climbing.
But at least the lights are up and it looks like Christmas on the outside! I think I'll wait a couple days to do more inside. And I'll wait for another warm spell to work on the back gutter. :)
