Christmas Message (and Alternative if you scroll)

Not being particularly organised this year, I haven’t done much Christmassy stuff for my LJ to share. Although my main talents involve Asking Someone Else To Make Me Something.

One thing I didn't anticpate about Our Glorious New Life is the huge side order of guilt that comes with it as our parents - particularly mine - are becoming increasingly frail and we can't either help out as much as we did OR visit during holidays such as this.  The other thing I didn't expect was how better organised I needed to be in order to get everything done.  On Sunday we were handed a huge pile of cards and my thoughts were, in this order:

  • Ohhhh, cards!  Lovely

  • Ohhhh cards!  Where are those going to go

  • Ohhhh cards!  Shit!  How the hell am I going to get reciprocal ones written and posted in time!  I found out later that Mr T and Simon had already written cards to all the members of the congregation and only sent personal ones to the Deacons and I’d already handed those out.  (Each church seems to do this differently.  In our last church, they had one large card for everyone to sign and encouraged people to give the money they’d spent on cards to charity).

But when clearing the table at home, I discovered a small pile of unposted cards hiding under a pile of other stuff that needed Putting Away… Which bodes well … But all the presents are bought, wrapped and under the tree; the house gets cleaned tonight; Mr T has written his first Christmas sermon AND agreed to cook roast lamb on Christmas Day.  And Christmas night involves Not Moving From The Sofa - Dr Who, Strictly and Wallace and Gromit! We start doing the rounds on Boxing Day.

Thank you to everyone who laughed, cried, squee’ed and WTF’ed with me over the last year - Merry Christmas Everybody!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As I realise not everyone shares my beliefs about Christmas, here’s an Alternative that I found it on luinielle’s LJ:

Enjoy! And thanks again!
