Found this all over my friend’s pages - thank you everyone!  It is originally from The Big Read - they reckon most people will only have read 6 out of the 100 books listed.

Instructions:

1) Look at the list and bold those you have read.

2) Underline those you intend to read.

3) Italicise the books you LOVE.

4) Reprint this list so we can try and ( Read more... )

Wow Tubbs; well done!!

The Big Read thinks only 6 out of 100?? Are they nuts? Maybe they are looking at only men. As I look over the list, I'm certain my own son has not read more than 6 or these books.

I think guys wouldn't be interested in a lot of them like P&P and Memoirs of a Geisha. They need Tom Clancy and John Grisham on there. Of course I'm generalizing here and I'm sure there are guys out there who read P&P (though probably the majority had it required in school).

Not wishing to generalise, but I'd agree, most of these aren't blokey books. And my list would be alot smaller if I hadn't been a bookworm at school or worked in a Children's Library for four years. (If you're going to recommend stuff, it helps if you've read it!)

Have to agree Mrs T - I read most of the so-called classics when I was much younger!!!!!

I'm going to be a pedantic cow and point out that, technically, it's not 100 books. The Complete Works of Shakespeare is cited, but then Hamlet is mentioned separately, and the same with The Chronicles of Narnia, and The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. On the other hand, there are seven Harry Potters and three books in The Lord of the Rings. Tee hee! Now, if only I could figure out how to italics, etc., I could actually participate!

You're right, I noticed that as well. ;) And some of the things - like the Complete Works or the Bible aren't the kind of things you sit down and read in the same way as a book.

It doesn't allow you to specify books that you tried to read and never finished Because You Thought They Were Rubbish either. (Captain Thinegy and his mandolin for example!)

I write things in Word and cut and paste them if that helps

[i] for italics
[u] for underline
[b] for bold

Just change the brackets [] to <>
