This update has a lot of unrelated parts.
One: wondering about the whole "bailing" mentality that my friends have adopted recently. It's like people make plans only so that they can cancel them at the last minute. And that is lame and annoying. And makes me not want to make plans with anyone other than myself. Which sounds perfectly reasonable right now. I can't believe it is Monday again!
Two: I met this totally awesome woman on Friday night at the Faith and Justice event. She was great. . .up until she started pontificating about the "unchurched" in the northeast and how she's here because it is a mission field (re: Passion 06). I doubt people in the northeast can be defined as "unchurched" because surely they have studied religion and can run circles around most "believers" so there needs to be a new name for what they are trying to convey so as not to annoy those smart-churched-types. Because it was - simply - annoying.
Three: I'm listening to Rob Bell and he's talking about identity. And becoming who we are supposed to be with our own persona and not coveting someone elses personas/ipods/donkeys. And how we are each unique and need to step into our unique calling. "How many times do you and I get distracted and we lose our joy because we think someone else's joy is greater than ours?" I listened to the sermon twice. Because I think it is an important lesson for me right now as I determine the next unique path/calling set out for me.
Four: I went to the Boston Vineyard this morning. It was rockin'. I am impressed that every seat was taken and they've only been open a little more than a month. cool.
Back to Rob Bell, packing and enjoying all that Sunday night TV has to offer.
