Omyghodomyghodomyghodomyghod, etc.
I. have. just. watched. the funniest, most ridiculous, hilarious, unbelievable piece of crack EVAH! It is "St. Trinian's". I can't remember having seen a cast enjoy themselves this much! I watched the film (parts of it twice) and the numerous extras, outtakes, bloopers, deleted scenes, interviews, and commentary, every bit of it amazing! (I know we express our appreciatioin of humour online by posting LOL, but, truly, I did laugh out loud! Several times!)
I ordered the film especially to watch Rupert Everett (I'm reading his book, The Hairdressers of St. Tropez) but had seen him only in The Importance of Being Earnest. (No, I did see him in something else but can't remember just what it was.) (Never mind.)
There are delightful scenes where the actors make fun of themselves, e.g., in one comic, over-the-top scene, Colin Firth recreates the image of his Mr. Darcy, dripping wet, clinging shirt and all, striding toward the camera. There's a double role so well played that I was ignorant of that fact 'til nearly half way through the film. The rioting students of St. Trinian's were horrible, dreadful creatures, but it was impossible not to cheer them on in their nefarious, evil undertakings! The cast list is crammed full of the best character actors Britain has to offer. (Toby Jones, I luv you!)
Oh dear, it's Sunday already - I'm off.
