Jessica hadn’t exactly been very...involved or knowledgable in the goings on of yesterday’s monster attacks. She had tuned in to parts of the radio broadcast, however, but it really did not phase her much. She was still so happy about being able to help the townspeople in the gym (
Here) and the wonderful time she had had with Chiana, Kiki, Sakura, Lana and Susan the other night (
Here). Every once and a while she would think of Han, too, and the talk they had had (
Here) and hoped that he was feeling better. Jessica goes to make some tea but, noticing her basket is not nearly as full or tea supplies as it once had been, decides to call Benson.
Benson: Tate residence...whadaya want...
Jessica: Benson! Benson its me!!!
Benson: *quickly pulls phone away from ear, rubs it, then puts phone back to ear* Mrs. Tate? Is that you?
Jessica: Yes Benson, its me. Ohh it is wonderful to see you...*Jessica sighs*
Benson: You can’t see me, I’m fairly certain of that. But talking, its nice to talk to you Mrs. Tate.
Jessica: Right! Ohh how I’ve missed you Benson. Its not the same here without you...and before I forget, could you send me some more tea supplies? That would be lovely, thank you, if its not too much of a bother.
Benson: Thats no bother...Anyway, its not the same anywhere for you. You’re a shrimp now. Besides, I doubt the other kids there would like you much with a butler following you everywhere you go, doin all your work. They’d think that’s kinda weird...
Jessica: Ohh they probably think I’m weird anyway Benson. You see its...I don’t know. You get used to something, having things a certain way your whole life...then, suddenly, a rare incurable strand of virus changes everything forever. I miss you, I miss Mary, Chester, my children...I could cry Benson.
Benson: Then go ahead. I’m here.
Jessica: Uh, no! Not in front of you, silly...no no.
Benson: ...Mrs. Tate...I’m not there, I’m here. We’re on the phone.
Jessica: Right! I know. But you could still hear me cry.
Benson: Then I’ll hang up.
Jessica: Cry alone? No no.
Benson: Then I won’t hang up...but I’ll cover my ears with my hands and put the phone on the table and stare at it.
Jessica: *smiles* Okay. *long pause* I can’t.
Benson: Can’t what?
Jessica: Cry.
Benson: Ugh…Why not?
Jessica: Because you cheered me up.
Jessica continues to fill him in on the goings on of her first few weeks here at Fandom. After they say their good-byes and hang up, Jessica is left with a feeling that Benson had wanted to tell her something, but couldn’t...
[ooc - Phone conversation NFB, but anyone walking by might hear Jessica’s parts of the conversation. After talking on the phone, Jessica is at her desk, looking at her family photo album. The door is open :)]
