Jessica makes herself a cup of tea, settles at her desk, picks up the phone and calls her sister.
Jessica: ...Hi, Mary?
Mary: Jessie, hi! How are you?! Its good to hear from you! Oh Jess, I am so sorry about the last time you called. I couldn’t have been more rude. As soon as I hung up I felt terrible.
Jessica: Oh Mary, stop it, please. Really now. If you had woken me up in the middle of the night I would have responded exactly the same way...
Mary: No...no, you wouldn’t have. Its really good to hear you Jess.
Jessica: Its really good to hear you Mary...So, how is everyone? Anything exciting happen since I’ve been gone?
Mary: Well...Eunice got married. Dutch finally made up his mind.
Jessica: Ohhh. Poor Corrine...But still, I mean a wedding! How lovely! Oh how I just love weddings. I’m sure Eunice and Dutch are happy together. Did you take pictures?
Mary: Of course. Eunice wore your wedding dress. Reminded me of your wedding.
Jessica: Mine...mine was quite lovely, wasn’t it?
Mary: Jess...at the reception Chester had an affair with the caterer...and on your honeymoon, he had an affair with a hotel chambermaid...and on the flight back from your honeymoon he had affairs with five stewardesses...
Jessica: .......still, it was a lovely wedding, wasn’t it? *Jessica sighs and smiles*
Mary: Jessie. I admire how you forgave Chester for all of that, and more, and your ability to put the past behind you...but Chester...Jess, there’s something I need to tell you.
Jessica: Okay Mary, okay.
Mary: Well...Eunice’s bridesmaid was an old college friend. Annie.
Jessica: Ohhh Annie. They were roommates actually. I remember the first day Annie was the one who helped push Eunice through the doors of the dorm.
Mary: Aw, Eunice was nervous and Annie helped give her confidence to enter the doors that first time?
Jessica: No Mary. I mean Eunice needed to be physically pushed through the doors. She couldn’t fit. You remember how she used to overeat.
Mary: ...ohh. Anyway, that’s not important. Its Annie and Chester. They’re...well they’re -
Jessica: - Ah! Mary, I am sorry, but I am going to have to call you back later. You see I think I had too much tea and I, well, you know. I don’t know how the English do it. They must be up and down, up and down. Well, bye Mary, talk to you soon dear...*click*...
Jessica runs down the hall, uses the facilities, returns to her room and sits at her desk doing home work.
