I still haven't found work and am still bouncing between "maybe I could find a good job that increases how much I'll get from Social Security" and "will I be able to handle another job (my memory is awful and I have trouble learning new things) and will the pay offset needing to buy a car and insurance and all the stuff that goes with car ownership?" Yes, I'm a mess. Even working with Mich Rehabilitation Services for job seekers with special needs is being troublesome as documentation is needed and getting doctor's appointments for it will difficult and expensive. I haven't given up looking for work but (sorry for the shouting) I WANT TO RETIRE!

Meanwhile, I'm having trouble wrapping my mind around how near we are to the end of 2023. Surely there is at least another full month left.

The Spectrum Orchestra concert was really good. And the article The Forgotten Female Composer was interesting and made me realize I had a blind spot in that it never occurred to me that women could have composed classical music back in the day. I thought classical meant "old" not “music written in a Western musical tradition, usually using an established form" until today when I started wondering about the actual definition of the term classical music.

There are huge gaps in my knowledge base and that's one of my frustrations with the job search. I read these amazing job descriptions and then realize I have absolutely no idea how to perform the required job activities. Write Grants? Never done it. Know the rules involved with accounting? Nope. HR duties? Same thing. Accounting? Heavens no. If I'm shown how someone does a certain thing enough times I'll pick up the steps but I won't know why things are done a certain way. Remember the old "Jack of All Trades, Master of None?" — That's me.
