I am completely worn out from the long Labor Day weekend. We went to work as usual on Thursday, then came home and started packing for our trip to Northern Michigan. We got to bed at a reasonable hour (at least by my standards) and got up fairly early. We bought a few groceries for
jebra's parents on the way out of town, then got on the freeway and drove to their house.

The folks were happy to see us and I was happy to see them too. This was the first time I've seen them this year.

We arrived at the lodge before dark and unpacked.
mbumby and
traveller42 arrived several hours later. The four of us talked and just relaxed before turning in for the night.

Saturday morning we four went out for breakfast and start the Virtual First Saturday event. As we knew the time would work for us, we (meaning
jebra and
mbumby and myself) decided we'd play with a group in the United Kingdom, as did another of our real life friends, iHermit. We all played well.

After that we went back to the lodge for a couple of hours. In the late afternoon
traveller42 drove us to Mackinaw City so that we could walk a dozen Ingress Missions. I'm not sure how far we walked but it was several miles. Following our walk we went to Darrow's for dinner, also picking up four pieces of pie to have for breakfast on Sunday.

We spent most of Sunday at the lodge. I brought my copy of Good Omens to camp and we watched the first three episodes before going out for dinner. After dinner we returned and watched the last three. It's a fun series and I was happy we could share it with
mbumby and
traveller42. I was also happy that I finally got to see it myself. I was starting to think that the pandemic would be over before I did.

On Monday we met with
jebra's sister and her husband for lunch at Darrow's, then the four of us drove back to Cheboygan and walked across the State Street Bridge. Following the walk
traveller42 took us back to camp before saying goodbye and heading home.

We stayed through to the next morning, packed up, added some coolant to the engine, and started the long drive home. We made it about half way before the engine temperature climbed to an unsafe degree.
jebra pulled off to the side and we called AAA. We ended up with two tow trucks (still don't quite understand how *that* happened); one of them towed us to a local tire/repair shop and a new radiator was ordered. They found one not too far away and arranged to have it delivered. Meanwhile,
mbumby began driving north to pick me up and take me home.
jebra stayed behind with the hope that the repair job would be finished later that day and with the thought that if it wasn't he could spend the night at his cousin's place.

I arrived home in time to join the first Black Sheep Knitting Guild meeting of the year. It was a virtual one but it was great seeing more folks than I had all summer. And seeing the lovely things everyone created. I had a hell of a time staying awake though. The trip simply wore me out.

jebra arrived home a few hours after I did. The repair was completed before the shop closed for the night and he had dinner with his cousin before coming home.

Today he tried to rent the lodge for Labor Day weekend 2021. Unfortunately for us, it was reserved yesterday by another party and they want it for two weeks with Labor Day in the middle. I don't know what he is going to do. I don't camp and hotels up there are hella expensive. He may decide that camping without me but being able to walk the bridge outweighs staying home with me.
