Sciatica sucks. I thought I had a pretty high pain tolerance but sciatica has made me question if that is really true. It has also made doing even the simplest thing difficult. Like putting on my socks or rolling my office chair three inches closer to my desk. Tramadol and naproxen each work for an hour and then the pain rushes back as bad as ever. If I'll be climbing stairs, walking any distance, scooping the cats' liter, or getting in and out of the shower I take a dose, wait for it to kick in and then hope I finish before the pill wears off. Six more days until I can see my back doctor. My regular doctor gave me a prescription for Nabumetone hoping it would see me through until my appointment with the other guy, but I don't know if it is helping or exactly what it supposed to do. On the information sheet the shortest section is Common Uses ("It is used to treat arthritis. It may be given to you for other reasons. Talk with your doctor.") The warnings, cautions, and possible side effects sections go on for an addition 97 lines of tiny print. There are days I question whether prescription medicine does more harm than good.

On other fronts, jebra spent a long weekend in Chicago for the University of Chicago class reunion. He left last Thursday after dropping me off at Enterprise Rent-A-Car and returned late Sunday night. Going by how the cats acted, they missed him as much as I did. Because he wasn't at SEMGS, he wasn't there when we learned our friends Mike & Carol are moving to South Carolina. They have already bought a house down there and have met with realtors to sell their Michigan house. I don't like change and Carol's our tax preparer, so the news hit me hard.

If anything else of note took place, it's lost in fog of pain and very little sleep.
