jebra has two big concerts coming up next week, which meant that I could stay home both last Thursday and this past Monday. This was beneficial since projects for the Black Sheep Knitting Guild's knitting swap were due last night. I had worried that I'd be frantically knitting throughout Penguicon, but fortunately that was not the case. I finished knitting my person's gift Friday morning and had it washed and blocking before we left for Penguicon. My person asked for slouchy hat and I knit this pattern for her. The yarn she gave me to knit with was wonderful, Dream by dreamincoloryarn.com in colorway 723 Tidewater. If I find myself with some spare time, I'll show you a photo or two of the project.

I had an enjoyable Penguicon not that my friends got to see much of me. We commuted to the convention and I spent most of my time there in panels. My favorites were the needle-felting and the talk on using thrift store finds for costuming. The talk itself was pretty good but afterwards I stuck around to talk with the panelist and learned she was one of the original members of i3Detroit (my local makerspace) and I had a conversation with the young man I first spotted at Penguicon back in 2006. It has been fun watching him grow up.

In family news, jebra's parents have returned to Michigan for the summer. His brother flew down to Florida to drive them at least as far north as Indianapolis and possibly as far as Grand Ledge (Michigan). Happily his father was feeling better than he has for the past several years and was confident he could drive himself from Les' house to Lora's House in Grand Ledge. He not only did that drive but later this day drove the rest of the way to their home in Prudenville. I think they're happy to be home, especially my father-in-law. He didn't want to go down for the winter and only did so because that's what his wife wanted.
