Project 52

The work part of the past week was nothing special, but three of the evenings were filled with band-related activities. The FCB had concerts on Thursday, Sunday, and again on Monday. I went to the first two but only as far as the high school on Monday. That was a nursing home gig and my job was to go with jebra to the high school and leave him with the truck. Three hours later I then had to drive to the truck's home and wait for him to return it. I brought my knitting with me so the wait wasn't at all bad.

I have no clue what we did Friday night although I suspect dinner and Ingress were in there somewhere.

On Saturday we went to Canton for a Celebration/Rememberance for Roni (who was a beautiful German Shepherd Dog). As usual, I forgot to take any photos of people. I did grab pull out my cellphone to take some shots while we drove through Detroit. We'd taken surface streets on the way to the party because (a) Ingress and (b) because I had no idea how much extra time that would take. We arrived at the party much later in the day than had been my intent, but we arrived before the party ended. And we saw a great swatch of prairie in the place I'd least expect to do so -- within the city limits of Detroit. I knew population in the city has been on the decline and that the city has been struggling to demolish all of the abandoned homes, but I'm far more used to seeing residential streets with a variety of houses (occupied, squatted, abandoned, burnt, vacant with missing windows and/or doors) than endless open land with no buildings of any type within visual distance. I want to go back and explore but I'm afraid to do that as I know the city can be dangerous and I saw the occasional car pulled over to the side of the road with people inside. I don't know if they were there for business (delivery or sale of who knows what) or if they just wanted a quiet out-of-the-way spot to hang out for a while. Whatever they were up to, they picked a beautiful area in which to it.
