We bought the tickets for San Francisco!  Now I just need to find a place to stay.  We've found one apartment rental that looks promising and a decent price but we're waiting for the owner to get back to us with more pictures.  We're also thinking about driving up to Yosemite National Park for a few days to check it out.  I watched a program about ( Read more... )

Oh, Dee, we're bound to get Ph.D.s eventually, since I think you and I have always wanted to reach our fullest potential. But we may feel differently if we end up making enough money without one and if we suddenly realize that the Ph.D. won't be worth the expense. If we decided to get one, though, we may want to consider Florida State - a reputable university and an affordable one.

(If I were rich, I'd even get an MFA. Sigh.).

What do you mean - does FAU not have ANY assistantships available to grad students in the Communication Disorders Dep? Please tell me this isn't so. :(

Oh, and I hate you for going to San Francisco. :P

Yay for the dress, you should post pics. It's so nice when one can finally get around to buying new clothes! I keep trying to save for an Anthropologie dress, but sadly, it looks like I won't be able to afford one anytime soon. Still, when will you be able to go shopping again?

Say hi to Pedro for me.

Now, I should either finish my thesis or read for our oh-what-a-waste SLP course. (Well, the book isn't bad, the teacher is!)

Sue, when I talked to the director of the communications dep., she said that there are usually two to three assistantships available each semester, and about 18 applicants. I already turned in my application, so hopefully I'll have a pretty good chance.

The dress I bought is pretty simple. It's just a casual dress, but pretty cute. I haven't wore it yet, so no pictures yet! Ooh, show me the Anthropologie dress that you want. I'm sure it's beautiful. Unlike me, you have good taste in clothes. I still dress like a high-schooler. lol. Someone needs to put me on the show 'What Not To Wear'!

Yeah. You'll get an assistantship! So you have nothing to worry about. I hope I do, too. I wish my background weren't in Lit, though. It'll make it harder for me to get an assistantship. Sigh.

Ok, Mrs. Rico, I don't agree about the taste thing. You have perfectly good taste and you always look nice to me. Thanks for the compliment, though. Sometimes I feel like I walk out looking like something the cat dragged in -- omg! remember the year at the HC when I decided to wear only sweatpants and sweatshirts? I was rebelling! lol -- so your words make me feel especially good. :)

Um, the dress isn't a specific one, I just want AN Anthropologie dress because I've become obsessed with that store. Of course, they have stuff that is a little too weird for me, but I love most of it! There's something so simple-pretty-and-original about their clothes.

They just opened a new store in Boca and we should go to it someday. You need to meet Kira, another Anthropologie enthusiast.

Ok, back to trying to get schoolwork done, at a very slow pace....
