I finally used the apples that I was given, and made some apple butter. I cooked it in the slow cooker, so it got to simmer all night on Saturday and all day yesterday. I tasted it a few times throughout the process, and ended up not adding any sugar. I was surprised at how much sweeter it got. It did reduce a lot. I think there was about a third as much apple butter as apple sauce.
Yesterday afternoon we went to the Seattle Art Museum. We hadn't been since they re-opened, or since Sean got us a new membership. It was very nice. I recognized a lot of pieces, but there were many that I hadn't seen before. I had read that they would have a lot more of the collection on display at a time.
The special exhibit right now is "Japan Envisions the West: 16th-19th Century Japanese Art from Kobe City Museum." I enjoyed it. I want to go back before it's over.
A couple of new things that I liked were the "Italian Room" and the "Porcelain Room." The "Italian Room" is a wood-paneled room that was originally created in northern Italy in the Renaissance. They re-assembled it, and put contemporary painted earthenware in the niches. The porcelain room was amazing. It is completely lined with cups, dishes, tea-pots, figurines, and all kinds of other things made of porcelain. I think they were Asian as well as European. The whole room just glowed and sparkled. I was in awe in that room, more than any other room.
We were there a few hours I think. But Sean got a headache, so I didn't see everything. When we had left, and were in the car, and I offered him a headache medicine, but his water-bottle was in the back seat, and since he was driving I reached for it, even though it was behind me, close to the door. It was too far away. I pulled a muscle in my shoulder. It hurts almost as bad tonight, so I'm icing it now. :( It's cold.
I'm almost done with the second Christmas stocking. I'll start the toe shaping after I'm done here. :)
