[Una is sitting at her desk. She holds a curved black object in her hands, playing with it idly. It's the Alice band worn by her child self.]

Well then. Thank god that's over. If anyone needs me-I'm going to be busy for the rest of the day today, so talk fast or be patient.

[Filtered to wardens and to the inmates who helped deal with O'Brien. Goes up shortly after Paddy's report.]

I suppose if there's one good thing about not having a functioning memory of anything that happened before the age of seventeen, it's not remembering what a terrible child one was at ten. Thanks, Admiral, for the reminder. I really didn't need those memories back.

I wasn't a happy girl. I was lonely and I lied and made up stories to make myself feel better-you've met the sort, I'm sure. And so I apologise to all the people I lied to and to whom I was horrible. With one notable exception, but we'll get to that in a minute.

[A pause. She leans back in her chair and studies the headband. Some of the memories are starting to fade again, and she's not eager to hang on to them, but there's a few notable ones left, and she has a point to make. She looks back at the camera.]

When I was nine, I decided that I didn't like my History teacher, so I started spreading hints to the headmistress and some of the other teachers that he was doing improper things with the girls. There was an investigation, and they found out that I'd been lying, and I got expelled. But the interesting thing was that in the course of the investigation, they did find out he'd been stealing. Money, small valuables from the dormitories, all sorts of stuff. And he did get dismissed in the end. Doesn't change the fact that I was a malicious, selfish child with no moral compass, though. If I did any good, it was by accident. I like to think I live with a better sense of purpose and an actual moral direction now.

[Briskly:] Now then, if you'll excuse me, I need to have a word with my inmate down in zero. I'd like to extend my special thanks to Paddy Maguire, William Cooper, Gaheris Rhade, Irving Braxiatel, and Mal Cobb for their roles in putting a stop to O'Brien's mischief.

Oh, and Harper? I'm afraid I'll be stealing O'Brien from the engine room. Due to recent events, he's getting reassigned to custodial duties for the next fortnight. Starting from when he gets out of zero, anyway, which will be in another few days.

And one more thing for everyone: Disciplinary measures for O'Brien are my job. If I hear of anyone, inmate or warden, knocking him about, we're going to talk.

[A bright smile that doesn't really reach her eyes. She gives a little wave and signs off.]

[After finishing her post, Una heads straight down to zero to talk to O'Brien. She is not happy. Not in the slightest. And he's in for the bollocking of his life.]

chrononaut occupational hazards, now you've gotten me really angry, killing o'brien with kindness, bloody floods
