Looking back, did you write more fic than you thought you would this year, less, or about what you'd predicted?
I honestly didn't have a quota for this year or anything. But considering what hell dbsk fandom went through in 2010 I think I wrote more than I expected, especially since I thought about giving up.
What pairing/genre/fandom did you write that you would never have predicted in January?
Without a doubt, my foray into the SHINee fandom. I've always been a fan of theirs but didn't get into fics until sometime last summer because it felt awkward reading or writing fics about boys younger than me. o_o But now I'm addicted.
What's your own favorite story of the year?
That's a tough one. But I think that would have to be I Really Hate You (But I Love You). It was my first time writing a SHINee fic and the first fic I managed to finish in a while. It was fun and easy to write and the response was great. ^^ But I'm also pretty fond of my lawsuit series.
Did you take any writing risks this year? What did you learn from them?
Attempting to write a post-dbsk chapter fic ('Cause None of us Were Angels) in the midst of a lawsuit was a risk. I've learned not to bite off more than I can chew with that one. I thought I'd be able to finish it if I posted it, but that was a no go. Also writing the lawsuit series was a big risk mostly because it dealt with very touchy subjects in fandom head on and un-sugar coated. I didn't think I'd get a very good response but I've learned fandom has matured a lot since I first started out here.
Do you have any fanfic or profic goals for the new year?
To venture out into more fandoms and genres. There's so many things I've wanted to try but didn't really have the motivation until the end of this year. Hopefully 2011 will be the start of a new me! ^^
From my past year of writing, what was...
My best story of this year:
Of Gods and Dogs has to be my favorite at the moment even though I just wrote it. I've never written anything so serious and emotional before and I'm quite proud of it.
My most popular story of this year:
I Really Hate You (But I Love You) For my very first shinee fic ever, it got a great response!
Story of mine most under-appreciated by the universe, in my opinion:
Right Where He Belongs Sure, it was a sequel to a chapter fic I wrote last year, but it could have done better. The first part had a good response. This one, not so much. :\
Most fun story to write:
Definitely I Really Hate You (But I Love You). I've discovered that shinee fics are fun to write in general.
Story with the single sexiest moment:
Pretty much all the dub con action in Baby Now (I Know That You Want Me). Not just the fact that it was the only sexy thing I've written this year. >.>
Most "holy crap, that's wrong, even for you" story:
None this year, I don't think. I don't have any shame so people can expect anything from me. Well... except MPREG, girl!shinee, or girl!dbsk. That will never happen. EVER.
Story that shifted my own perceptions of the characters:
Yunho in Of Gods and Dogs. I made him really bitter and angry in that story and I never thought I'd do that with him.
Hardest story to write:
The Way Things Are and Of Gods ans Dogs from the lawsuit series. It's hard to touch on the emotions of that characters in a situation you don't know the full details of.
Biggest disappointment:
'Cause None of us Were Angels. It just-- I don't even know what I was thinking with that one. *shakes head forever* I made a video trailer and poster for that shit and everything! But I just can't bring myself to delete it! D:
Biggest surprise:
Writing fics based off of DBSK's lawsuit situation and split.
Most unintentionally telling story:
Of Gods and Dogs. I got out a lot of frustration with fandom in that one and I think it showed.
New year's resolutions:
WRITE MORE. WRITE BETTER. :|
