I swore to myself I would get back on track and start seeing Broadway shows regularly again. Since the new year began I’ve been REALLY slacking and have only seen 2 shows so far this year. This is #3…

I took an 11am train to the city to get to the Barrymoore theater in time for its noon opening for rush tickets. There were about 10 people in line with me and plenty of student rush/general rush tickets to go around.

Since the show wasn’t until 3pm and I had my ticket already, I had plenty of time to do whatever. First thing I wanted to do was eat my bagel. So I got Starbucks and hung out in the Marriott to eat and enjoy my caramel macchiato. Since it was so cold out (I didn’t realize how cold and windy it was, I regret not bringing a hat or headband), I didn’t feel like walking around too much. If I did, I would’ve headed over to Rockefeller Center to check out the Nintendo store I’ve been dying to check out and the other stores around there. Instead I just killed time in the Marriott. I went to the store Theatre Circle on 44th for a little while, and then went back to sit in the Marriott to warm up/kill some more time before the show.

I am very disappointed to say that I found this play very boring. I just couldn’t get into it at all. Since I wasn’t fully paying attention, I wasn’t completely following the plot. I somewhat understood it, but didn’t get the point of it. I got the whole different time periods thing (which was cool in the last act when both time periods were joined), but I didn’t care about what was going on. I’m sorry that I didn’t enjoy it. The audience was constantly laughing and applauding, I don’t know why I just didn’t care.

I only saw it for Billy Crudup. Raul Esparza is one of my favorite actors as well, but this was my first time seeing Billy on stage. I guess it was still worth it to see them though. I would’ve been curious about it through its whole run and if I had not seen it before I closed I would’ve regretted not going to see Billy.

Oh well… ?
