Sleepover!

Dec 29, 2011 22:07

The Girl-O (age 8) is hosting her second sleepover tonight, and her first in the new bunk bed(s).  Last June, she had velvetpage and pyat's daughter overnight, but that was sort of secondary to the Katy Perry concert we went to that evening.  And tonight is Alisha's first sleepover at a friend's house.  She's only been overnight at her grandparents' once, as they live in England half the year and only recently acquired a house in Canada.

So it's quite a rite of passage for both of them.  Alisha's Mom is a little worried, as her daughter threw a "wobbly" (crying episode) last night in anticipation.  But I detect no major signs of anxiety in the kid tonight.

I feel for Alisha, as I was a very anxious and light sleeper as a child.  I remember my first sleepover at a good friend's house when I was 7 or 8.  I couldn't sleep, and had the mom (who I'd known all my young life) drive me home at 3 am as I was miserable with insomnia.  So I'm prepared for anything up to and including that tonight.

But I hope things aren't that extreme.  And I hope it will be the first of many girly sleepovers to come.

And I hope Alisha's mom will reciprocate soon (hint hint!)
