It was raining.
Again.
And as sods law would have it, Jack and Ianto were caught in the middle of it during their regularly scheduled weevil chase.
"Gotta love Cardiff!" Jack exclaimed as they stopped while, using the back of his hand, he unsuccessfully wiped away beads of both rain and sweat from his face. Ianto squinted through the haze of rain, but he couldn't see the weevil. It'd probably sneaked back into the sewage works to protect itself from the weather.
"Bloody brilliant," Ianto muttered to himself before tuning back in to Jack's rambling.
"At least Cardiff's consistent: rain in autumn, rain in spring, rain in summer and even rain in winter - there's not many places you can say that about."
Ianto rolled his eyes. He was starting to get used to the fact that every time it rained, Jack was around to reel off some sort of backhanded compliment about the City. Yet on the rare day it was beautifully sunny - like yesterday, with actual rays of sunlight to warm your skin, Jack had found something to keep himself occupied and cooped up in the Hub all day.
"Jack, the weevil's gone," Ianto informed Jack once he was certain the Captain had finished his reel for the day.
"Where?"
"I don't know." Ianto fought very hard to keep the snark out of his voice, but there was only so much a man could do. "I can't see it anymore."
"Damn." Jack looked over his shoulder in the direction they'd last spotted the weevil. "Let's give it a couple of minutes. It looks like the rain's lightening up." Just as the words left Jack's mouth, the rain seemed to actually pelt down harder on the two men. Ianto glared as Jack shrugged his shoulders in 'innocence.' If Jack was anything, innocent definitely wasn't it.
"C'mon, Ianto, what's a little rain?" Jack grinned smugly, holding his arms out as the heavens opened. Ianto just wrapped his summer coat tighter around his chest, muttering about an erratic greatcoat wearing Captain from the future with a death wish. "It's actually kinda nice. Lots of things you can do in the rain."
Ianto just shook his head, because he didn't have objections to doing those "things", just doing them in the rain - the wet rain.
"Guess you don't want to share my umbrella then." Ianto tried to divert Jack from his fascination with water. "Shame really. It's only a small umbrella," Ianto paused, allowing suspense to build. "We'd have had to cuddle up close to share body warmth and stay nice and dry." His voice dropped huskily. "Who knows what could've happened."
"Well, when you put it that way - hey. That's not fair, you don't even have an -" Before Jack could finish his sentence, Ianto was magically holding an umbrella over their heads. "Oh, you're good." Jack declared as they started to quickly make their way back towards the SUV in the relative dry. Ianto grimaced as a tidal wave of cold water dumped itself into his shoe when Jack accidentally stepped into a puddle in his boots.
"But I have to ask, Ianto. Where the hell did that come from?"
Ianto looked up under his eyelashes, watching Jack's pupils dilate, feeling his hand reaching back and placing itself firmly on Ianto's arse.
"What? And give away all my secrets?" Ianto winked mysteriously, a delicious moan escaping Jack's lips as his imagination took him to places that he hadn't visited in a while...

They were about two meters from the SUV when the rain stopped.
"Typical." Jack started muttering about Welsh weather again as he moved to open the car door for Ianto - Ianto had him well trained by now. Before stepping into the SUV, Ianto moved away, putting the umbrella down and shaking the rain off. Carefully, to ensure his suit stayed as dry as one could after running around in the rain, he did the umbrella up so it wouldn't crease when it'd dried. When he was certain each section was perfect, Ianto shook it again for good measure, accidentally hitting Jack in the process.
The apology died in Ianto's throat as - what Ianto could only describe as a growl escaped before Jack could contain it.
"Jack?" Ianto asked, raising his eyebrow slightly, holding the umbrella up. "Seriously?"
Jack nodded. Ianto had to test his new theory, so he quickly gripped the umbrella tighter and smacked Jack harder. Jack's eyes fell closed as he fought to control his natural reactions, but when Ianto swung again, Jack's entire body jerked against the SUV.
"Ianto Jones, don't start that if you don't plan on following through," Jack ground out through gritted teeth. Ianto pressed his entire body against Jack's so he could feel the answering arousal to Jack's kink. Breathing lightly over Jack's sensitized neck, Ianto placed a soft kiss to his ear, feeling rather than hearing the sound vibrate through his body.
"There are a lot of things you can do with an umbrella, Jack." Ianto huskily whispered, bringing the umbrella up Jack's leg slowly and thrusting once against Jack's arse.
"Guess we should make a list."
"Oh Mr. Jones, you little tease...." Jack replied, pressing back into the warm body.
"After all, we wouldn't want to forget anything important, would we?"
