Best rejection EVER

Jul 19, 2008 12:39

Here is an actual email I received this morning from a university in the Chicago area which shall be nameless. I applied there way back when, and had pretty much figured out by now that they weren't interested, but this is worth sharing:

"Val, Thank you for applying for one of the full-time writing instructor positions at Stupid U. As our search progressed, we decided not to select ABD students in rhetoric as finalists for these positions because we hope that the instructors we hire will make a long-term commitment to Stupid U. Because of your advanced expertise in the field, we know that shortly much better positions will await you than the meager $27,000 and non-tenure-track status we are able to offer to instructors. Thus, I'm writing to inform you that these instructor positions have now been filled."

For the record, the salary was never mentioned in the ad, and I think I now know why. And I think it's pretty nice of me not to give out their name. Also, I don't want these weird fuckers to come after me.

Rejection has never felt so good.
