The holidays are over, and things are returning back to normal. It was nice to see my family, I admittedly don't see them as often as I should.
What will 2008 bring? Will I be a graduate student this year? Or will I not get in to grad school and be forced to seek out employment in that fabled 'real world'? Or will I simply get a desk job somewhere at URI?
Who knows. It's all part of the fun. Who knows what shit you'll be shoveling tomorrow, nevermind a year from now.
So, I suppose I should list some kind of resolutions? Is that the trendy thing to do after the new year begins?
1.) Exercise regularly. I was running quite a bit in the fall, but once the weather became cold I just stopped doing it altogether. I need to run/work out every day.
2.) Eat better. I need to improve my diet. I've been eating crap for years, and it's starting to take its toll on my body. I suppose I'll need suggestions as to what to eat.
3.) Tap into my creative potential. Somehow. Write? Make a movie or something? I don't know. I guess I'm not being very creative about this. (See what I mean?)
4.) Trust. Why do I resort to distrust so quickly? Why, at the first appearance of something out of the ordinary, do I assume the worst? I never used to do that. I started doing that in 2007 and this needs to never happen.
5.) Be more organized. Story of my life. I suppose that part of my disorganization stems from my incessant laziness. Maybe I should change this one to that. This would also include coming in to work on time. I will work on that.
No Livejournal entry is complete without a random image and an accompanying poem. So for your aesthetic enjoyment:
Old man, sittin' by the old tree
Old man, lookin' over at me.
Old man, pension paid by petty lies
Old man, don't you know those are steady lies?
Old man, can't you see the lady in the mack?
Old man, can't you see the man who breaks his back?
Old man, this ain't the life you thought you had
Old man, no one blames you much for bein' sad.
Old man, open up your wrinked hand
This is the story of the Old man.
