So apparently I am utterly incapable of standing up to Dr. Incomprehensible.
So much for my plan of trying to leave behind the theory courses for more practical stuff for the rest of my degree. Less than 5 minutes after walking into his office, I find myself agreeing to take a 700-level theory course:
CPSC 701.04 Categorical Proof Theory.
I'm gonna die.
(So afterwards, he says to me: "You can probably expect some grumbling from the grad. department... they seem to expect *breadth* [this last in a more-than-slightly disdainful voice]. But you already have more breadth than the average student anyway, right?")
