What did you do in 2005 that you’ve never done before?
This is going to be the first in a long string of similar answers: I got engaged.
Did you keep your New Years’ resolutions and will you make more for next year?
I didn't really make a New Year's resolution in 2004-2005, as life was more or less going ok. Nothing was too spectactular, but nothing was broken to the point of needing fixing.
This year's resolution (stemming from a party a few days before New Year's) is no more vodka. Even the really high-quality expensive stuff does very very bad things..

Both Katie Heule and Kathy Blocher.
Did anyone close to you die?
Ashley's grandfather.
What countries did you visit?
Just the good old US of A.
What would you like to have in 2006 that you lacked in 2005?
A wife.
What date from 2005 will remain etched in your memory and why?
Hmm. The day we got engaged, or the day we met, or the trips we've gone on; I guess I can't rightly pin one down.
What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Aside from the obvious, I got a raise and a promotion.
What was your biggest failure?
My failure to bring my camera inside rather than leaving it in my car.
Did you suffer illness or injury?
I got this thing on my arm; not going into details. Also, Ashley had kidney stones.
What was the best thing you bought?
An engagement ring, wedding bands, and my camera.
Where did most of your money go?
Savings, bills, student loans.
What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Batman Begins?

Hung out with friends, particularly those out of town, or whose paths don't regularly cross mine.

Watched TV. I got immense pleasure from finishing off Buffy, but I'm positive I'm not a better person for it.

With my family and then hers.

Yep

House, although Buffy, The Office, and Firefly are up there.
What was the best book you read?
I reread Microserfs, which was quite good.
What was your greatest musical discovery of 2005?
69 Love Songs by The Magnetic Fields. That answer somewhat surprises me, as I feel like I've had the album for years.
What did you want and get?
My camera.

The same camera to be found and returned to me...
What was your favorite film this year?
Batman Begins, but Serenity was quite shiny, too.
What did you do on your birthday?
I probably worked.
What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Having no debt.
How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2005?
Sweaters over dress shirts in the winter, and (sometimes) in the summer ditching the camp shirt and simply wearing a t-shirt.
No matter what Ashley or my mom tells me, I still feel better if I put a Hawaiian print shirt over my t-shirt.
What kept you sane?
Pretty much Ashley.

I try and avoid them all, truth be told.
