especially since our current president is constantly providing such rich material for a musical satire...why doesn't someone capitalize on that?
Oh, but they are. I know this only because when Emily and I go to New York in February, we're seeing the musical Bush is Bad (at the Triad Theatre). I'm not expecting it to be particularly good, but it should be a nice celebration that, at least for a weekend, we are out of a Republican state. We're also seeing Sweeney Todd again (I don't think I need a parenthetical to describe how thrilled I am about that one), and we're looking for something to see, probably Off- or Off-Off-Broadway for our Saturday night up there. I've been checking out Defiance (for Shanley), Bernarda Alba (for LaChiusa), or Grey Gardens (for Playwrights Horizons, because I was in love with that place even before I found out about the NYU studio). Haven't really talked with Emily about these possibilities, yet, though... if you have any suggestions (seeing as The Color Purple and Abigail's Party are the only ones besides Sweeney on your list that will still be running when we're there), that'd be cool. Hopefully I'll see you sometime. :)
