At the movies - potential Children of Men spoilers
Just watched Children of Men...can't recommend it enough. Best movie of 2006, as far as I've seen. The cinematography is out of this world. I had read about how it had these unbelievable continuous shots, and how they weren't really filmed that way, just connected digitally...but I was LOOKING for that, and the whole movie was seamless. Those long shots are wonders to behold. Very emotionally draining...90% of it is depressing, but then near the end there's this one scene that just makes you regain hope in the human race again.
It's very humbling to watch a battalion of soldiers drop their weapons to look in awe - and, in a few cases, cross themselves - at a woman carrying a newborn baby.
