So my quiet support of Barack Obama has become full-blown, and I credit that greatly to just what a miserable group of fucking pigs a number of the McCain/Palin supporters are proving themselves to be. Case in point, this e-mail I received this morning:

* Jack Wheeler is a brilliant man who was the author of Reagan's
strategy to
break the back of the **Soviet Union** with the Star Wars Race and
expose their inner weakness. For years he wrote a weekly intelligence
update that was extremely interesting and well structured and informed.
He
consults(ed) with several mega corporations on global trends and the
future,
etc. I think he is in semi-retirement now. He is a true patriot with a
no-nonsense approach to everything. He is also a somewhat well-known
mountain climber and adventurer.*
*Written by Dr. Jack Wheeler*
The O-man, Barack Hussein Obama, is an eloquentl y tailored empty suit.
No
resume, no accomplishments, no experience, no original ideas, no
understanding of how the economy works, no understanding of how the
world
works, nothing but abstract empty rhetoric devoid of real substance.
He has no real identity. He is half-white, which he rejects. The rest of
him
is mostly Arab, which he hides but is disclosed by his non-African
Arabic
surname and his Arabic first and middle names as a way to triply
proclaim
his Arabic parentage to people in Kenya . Only a small part of him is
African Black from his Luo grandmother, which he pretends he is
exclusively.
What he isn't, not a genetic drop of, is 'African-American,' the
descendant
of enslaved Africans brought to America chained in slave ships. He
hasn't a
single ancestor who was a slave. Instead, his Arab ancestors were slave
owners. Slave-trading was the main Arab business in East Africa for
centuries until the British ended it.
Let that sink in:* Obama is NOT the descendant of slaves, he IS the
descendant of slave owners.*Thus he makes the perfect Liberal Messiah.
It's something Hillary doesn't understand - how some complete neophyte
came
out of the blue and stole the Democratic nomination from her. Obama
mania is
beyond politics and reason. It is a true religious cult, whose adherents
reject Christianity yet still believe in Original Sin, transferring it
from
the evil of being human to the evil of being white.
Thus, Obama has become the white liberals' Christ, offering absolution
from
the Sin of Being White. There is no reason or logic behind it, no faults
or
flaws of his can diminish it, no arguments Hillary could make of any
kind
can be effective against it. The absurdity of Hypocrisy Clothed In Human
Flesh being their Savior is all the more cause for liberals to worship
him: Credo
quia absurdum, I believe it bec ause it is absurd. Thank heavens that
the
voting majority of Americans remain Christian and are in no desperate
need
of a phony savior.
His candidacy is ridiculous and should not be taken seriously by any
thinking American.
*Pass this on to every thinking American you know.*

Here is my response, and I will not LJ cut because as you may have inferred I am really PISSED THE FUCK OFF:
Katie, it is my great hope that you passed this along to me out of a need to get together with our misguided friend Jessica to hold an intervention and not to actually preach the "abstract empty rhetoric devoid of real substance" laid out so ignorantly and shamelessly below. This should be considered an insult to the rational senses of any person who looks it over. If you're already aware of how unfortunate this e-mail is in so many ways then please just pass my response along to Jessica.
I could start with the fact that Jack Wheeler, if this was in fact written by him or someone with more than a high school education, did not "break the back" of the Soviet Union with the so-called Star Wars missile defense system, something we have never used and something that certainly didn't help us when, for the one time in history, we actually needed it, ie Sept. 11. In many ways the Soviet Union broke its own back spending more money than it had resources to back it up, a non-diverse economy that came screeching to a halt in a growing global market, disaffected satellite nations that had been abused more than rewarded for their role in the empire, and of course the 10 year quagmire in Afghanistan which was essentially their version of our Vietnam War but came at the time when their empire was most fragile.
I had read a lot of literature on Barack Obama following his 2004 convention speech because I was so impressed with him on the surface I wondered if he was the real deal. Not a lick of what you see in the email below is true, and I dare anyone to try and independently verify it. Obama does not have the 20+ years of Washington experience that, let's say, his running mate has, but he does have ideas, he does understand the economy, and he is perhaps the most worldly candidate we have ever seen, considering he spent much of his youth moving around, and has ties to Kenya, Kansas, Hawaii and the Phillipines. While John McCain and Hillary Clinton were supporting a gas tax holiday, Obama opposed it, saying it would only save you a few cents and would in fact drive up the price of gas because it would lead to additional consumption. McCain and Clinton slammed him on this, until all the leading economists stepped in and said emphatically that Obama was right. The same is true about McCain's support of more off-shore drilling, whereas Obama puts finding cleaner and renewable energy sources as a greater priority, protecting our environment and freeing our country from our dependence on foreign oil. We have 3 percent of the world's oil reserves but as a country we use 25 percent of the world's oil. Do we really think more drilling is going to make up that difference? Not to mention it still discards the great question of our time: When we run out of oil, what next? McCain has missed all 8 votes on bills that would provide subsidies to corporations investing in and researching cleaner and renewable energy, and his vice presidential candidate has direct ties to big oil.
One idea Barack Obama had was an 18-month timetable for the withdrawal of troops from Iraq. Bush and McCain (who has taken Bush's stance on issues in Congress 90 percent of the time) called this irresponsible, and harped that we would leave when the Iraqis wanted us to. Along comes the Iraqi prime minister, who met with Barack Obama and came out saying that Obama's timetable is more or less what they would like to see. Now Bush administration officials are in Iraq trying to negotiate said timetable, but are still trying to come up with loopholes that would leave friends of mine and yours there indefinitely, to continue fighting a war we never should have fought, a war that Obama was opposed to from the very beginning.
Now we can delve into the incoherent bable about Obama's race and identity and his followers rejection of Christianity. In this article Wheeler sounds more like some burned out beatnik who took too much LSD and now lives in a perpetual state of fear that one day the communists will storm his house at night. It would not surprise me if the writer of this article lives in the woods as a result of this extreme paranoia and eats his kill raw, the blood stains and dirt creating a morbid sort of tye-dye design on his one worldly possession: a University of Tennessee sweater.
Pictures of Obama's father are easy to find. The man's skin is black as black. The Arab name is a result of Muslim conquest of the region centuries ago and the adoption of those customs by the peoples there. Barack Obama has never rejected his white heritage, he talks about it extensively in his first autobiography "Dreams of My Father," the book which sold me on Obama. Obama on paper is not the typical "African American," that is true, but he has faced many of the same struggles. His father was never home, people judged him by the color of his skin, he could not afford higher education but found a way to do it. Being half-white and half-black, he has also been told by racists like Jack "Tree Stump" Wheeler that he has no identity. The truth of the matter, and something that society should do the soul searching on, is that his parents made him Barack; the people who saw Barack, before they even knew him, just on the tone of his skin, made him black, and gave him all the social constructs he had to overcome, and he is still fighting those issues as a result of dirty emails like this one crafted to appeal to the most primitive instincts in the conservative base.
Every president in the history of the United States either was a slave owner or is likely descended from slave owners. Were this speculation on Obama's descendents in any way provable, would it have any relevance to who he is? I also love how Wheeler throws in the ole "white men set them free" line saying it took the British to end slavery. The British started the slave trade, they ended it by not god damn buying them anymore.
Obama has never tried to make this campaign about race. This idea Wheeler proposes of the freedom Obama gives his supporters from the sin of being white is just, well, who the fuck even thinks about that? Who could honestly think that sentiment is prevalent unless you yourself have some deep-seeded issues with race? Obama's platform is change, and that is exactly how he beat out Hillary Clinton, who for all the good she has done is still a part of the same old political system
We see Wheeler's final moment of descent into insanity as he talks about the rejection of Christianity by Obama's supporters (49 percent of Americans to McCain's 42 percent). Once again, where does this come from? How does this make any sense? Look around the world you live in, look at your friends who support Obama. Statements like this are deeply personal, they are perverted attempts to drive wedges between your fellow man/woman. Religion is not the issue at hand in this year's election. War, economy, healthcare, energy, corruption in government and private industry, affordable education, affordable living...these are the crises that face our nation. E-mails like this are part of the same old tactics to make politics cheap, to make people vote on issues that aren't true in the first place, and would certainly have no reflection on how someone might serve the country. I hope our friends will realize this.
