Day 46. We got up this morning and got a quick breakfast at the little serving area in the hotel. Then I started my walk for the day.
To start, I went to the train station and got some more information. Then I got on a city bus to head to the main shopping area here, and also to the tourist information center (I got a map). I plotted out my destinations and started walking.
As I've been encountering, some of the places didn't exist, and some didn't turn out to be interesting, but I did find a wonderful model store, DIBA Modellbahnen (
http://www.diba-modellbahnen.de). I got several models there, including my first BP model in years, an HO scale tow truck.
Along the way I also found a couple of Kinsmart cars, which are Matchbox-sized, and a Lego Ferrari that is only available at Shell stations here.
I also found the house my grandfather lived in, which is about 3 blocks from our hotel. I took several pictures, and while I was doing so, someone came out with a bicycle, so I went up and greeting him to let him know why I was taking pictures. It's the current owner, who bought the place a decade after my grandfather lived there. Mostly I just wanted to let him know why I was taking pictures.
Then back to the hotel to crash. We got up and going before Rob Partridge and his wife Kelly showed up to go to dinner. We headed to a Greek restaurant that was booked up, then tried a Thai restaurant that had plenty of space. So we ate there, and had a really nice meal. We took our time and had a chance to really catch up with them, so that was a lot of fun.
Now we're back getting ready to crash for the night. Tomorrow we head to Kassel.
