Preliminary Litte Tikes battle report.
Goodwill finds:
The Fujitsu Remote Control Receiver 2 which is IR <-> USB and did not come with the other accessories works with Linux.
The cute Little Tikes remote in Royal Purple and Canary Yellow works with 'linux infra red control' lirc. Here is the lirc.conf

The other remote I just picked up is a Gaggitvox (Magnavox) model NB179

I've not gotten either configured to run any program or player yet. The Little Tykes will most likely work better as it's decode was cleaner with LIRC.
