Today, the syndicated programs The Insider and Entertainment Tonight will begin airing an "exclusive" multi-part interview with Mary Kay Letourneau and Vili Fualaau. Yes, the schoolteacher who decided she was "in love" with a 13 year old boy and began having sex with him. They were supposed to be getting married, if they have not already.
What bothers me is how this "interview" is being promoted: Like some kind of Romeo and Juliet love story. Leave it to Hollywood to put a convicted pedophile on a pedestal, repeating what they did with the USA cable film, All American Girl: The Mary Kay Letourneau Story.
What really gets under my skin is the timing of this. Do you realize this is being aired at the beginning of May sweeps?
If this is being done for ratings, that's not sick, that's despicable. And both programs should suffer greatly because of it.
