Running update

According to my training log I've posted a credible 42 miles so far in January. That's more than November or December last year. My post marathon slacking seems to be well and truly over.

I've started using RunKeeper for the iphone to log my runs. It's a nice piece of software, and gives you a constant readout of pace, time and distance covered. If that's a little much to keep track of as you try to run there's a much more useful audio option, where an electronic voice lets you know how you're doing every five minutes. You can even set youself a target pace and it tells you how you're doing relative to it.

Sadly, a patchy GPS signal, or possibly less than ideal iPhone hardware means it's a bit glitchy. Today's run was about 8 miles. It was a there and back route, but apparently the back was 0.1 miles less than the there. It's minute by minute pace estimates aren't great either. According to the readout I varied from flying along at four minute mile pace, and dawdling at thirteen minute mile pace, but I'd be amazed if either of those things happened.( Overall I averaged 7:44 which seems about right.)
