Man, what a week. I had a test Monday, a genre comparison of Batman (1989) and X-Men (2000) in the form of a 10-12 page essay, and then my compy died...
Not really died, but my lcd display has gone. Luckily this enabled me to still print said essay. Because it's Dell [something which Sophie and Huda may be able to sympathize with], it can only be fixed by Dell. That meant that, even if my parents drove out to Newmarket, it would still cost at least $500 to fix. So, obviously, it ain't getting fixed cos there's no way it's worth it. Luckily there was an extra monitor kicking around the house, so my parents drove that down to me Friday. This is why you move out of your parents house, but don't quite leave town. Between all the school work and trying to get the compy fixed [which involved Dell India getting me to unscrew the keyboard and make sure all the wires were properly connected, among other things], my room was in complete shambles. Things are finally starting to look better.
I had already been thinking of buying a new computer once I got enough cash, which at first seemed like a distant thought. Then I found out I was getting a nice amount of cash back in taxes, so all has changed. Of course, I've always been rather fiscally prudent, but I imagine some of that will be spent over the summer in the form of a tv and eventually a new computer. That is, whenever I get tired of this monitor/laptop setup. Speaking of which, does anyone have any idea of how to start up the computer visuals into the monitor, not the lcd display? I always have to switch it over, which is obviously a bitch.
St. Patty's Day was a little low key [considering the day], but very nice. Andrea wanted to be flashed, so I granted her request. She then got vicious, going for my nipples. She never got them, but I was still hurting after. I also found out that raspberry beer is excellent. One of the bands covered Cuff The Duke's "The Ballad Of Poor John Henry", which was surprising.
Tomorrow I will try to put up an actual music post, but for now this explanation of my life will have to do. With only one more paper [a 5-6 page concert review of Magneta Lane due Tuesday] and a test left before exams, it's a pretty nice and relaxed pace to end the year. I'm going to start watching more movies, as a prelude to the summer when it's all I will do when not working. Continuing from my essay, I'm going to watch Batman Returns and X2 [also because I've never seen the former, and the latter to get me ready for the next installment]. I'm not sure where I'll go from there. I've also spent a lot of time lately figuring out how to play National songs on guitar and watching Ali G episodes. Both have proven to be very entertaining
Now I've got to go figure out my summer school schedule. My mind is already getting into summer mode, because it is on the lips of everyone. I'm very psyched for it.
