In an appallingly-romantic gesture, on Saturday I went into Marks and Spencer and bought a new pair of work shoes. I narrowly passed on the pair that made me look like a Mexican assassin (think El Mariachi or Desperado) and went for a pair that were slightly more elaborate than I normally go for, but not shockingly so. These are a bit more pointy and long at the top, too. I kinda look like the Wicked Witch of the West (Midlands).
Anyway as a result of new shoes, I am slipping and sliding all over the place when walking around the office. They seem heavier than my old work shoes and my ankles are hurting. This will all get better, I'm sure, once they're broken in and I'm used to them a bit more... but right now, the only advantages to them are a) The sound of my walk has changed, so no-one knows it's me coming towards them until it's too late, and b) I could probably slide them up and down on the floor for a few seconds and give someone a mean static shock if I so wished.
