I've been meaning to make this for a while now, but I've been busy. Aoi Miyazaki is the bomb.

I first saw her in a film called Su-Ki-Da, a film that
verrine still needs to watch. It currently ranks as one of my favourites, and the film is a pretty large influence on Pink Umbrella (to the point of all the girl parts are essentially cast for Aoi Miyazaki to come over and play), but there's a subtle brilliance to the film. It's slow, it lures you in with it's sweetness and atmospheric cinematography before dropping an heart crippling bomb for you to choke on for a little while.
According to IMDb, Su-Ki-Da came out after Nana, another, and vastly different film starring Aoi Miyazaki. If you've seen it then you'd know what I mean (I recently sat down and watched it, I occasionally do things like this), it's a very two-dimensional and weak film, but it somehow gives you some enjoyment.
The vast difference between Miyazaki in Nana, where I doubted her acting abilities despite her soul melting smile, and her honest and subtle performance in Su-Ki-Da. Everything from that performance is utterly brilliant, from the awkward and clumsy movements to her facial and vocal actions.

From there she's come on to become one of the biggest and highest paid Japanese starlets as of late, in 2008 she was the highest paid actress, she's repeatedly performed against Tadanobu Asano, is in most of Shinji Aoyami's recent films.
But. She's clearly the advert legend in her part-time.

Those adverts I could literally watch endlessly. I'm pretty sure half of the views in the advert above are from me alone.
So now you know, this is my current obsession. And yet another person on the list of people I'd love to work with.
