Doctor Who HMV Signing/Radio 1 door
I queued up from 11pm on Sunday night for a wristband for the Doctor Who DVD signing at Oxford Street HMV. I spent the first 2 hours catching up on Supernatural and watching Eleventh Hour, before resorting to listening to music and trying to read the two Doctor Who novels I'd brought with me to kill the time, but with twenty minutes I was too tired to read. So, I get to know the people in the group next to me which was the best idea ever (Lisa informed us that Matt and Karen would be at BBC Radio 1)!! We spend the night chatting and keeping warm and counting down the hours till the doors open. We get told that doors are opening fifteen minutes early and when they do open instead of getting the longed for wrist bands we get the Cybermen, which would be brilliant if it wasn't wet/cold/end of a long night. Once we got in and got our DVDs we decided to go over to BBC Radio 1 not sure if Matt and Karen was even there or not, deciding that it was better to try then not we grab a taxi to get there and the driver takes us to the old Radio 1 building rather then the new one and has to turn around to drop us off. When we reach Radio 1 a few famous faces leave the building like Peter Key and Chris Moyles and there are a really small amount of eBastards and Paparazzi after about half an hour of screaming at every MPV to drive past Matt and Karen turn up in a blue saloon, Karen is gracious and stops to sign a handful of autographs and take the odd picture but Matt runs in with just the one auto. After they go in we go to a cafe on the corner to stalk out the building and eat. When Matt and Karen leave there is way more paparazzi and eBastards and we have to fight tooth and nail just to get near them, I try to get photos rather then autos and the paparazzi tell me to get out of the way which makes me fight more till I'm slammed into their car.
On our way back to HMV we spot Adam Green (some guy from Eastenders)!! Once back we decide to do the door again to get a picture with Matt and Karen but we don't know where it is so hang around a door hoping its the right one, there is only two eBastards we engage in conversation about how to get a photo with them they tell us its just getting into the same shot rather then a posed photo with Matt and Karen is much easier to get a photo with. When they arrive I see Matt and as soon as he's in the same shot as Hannah, I yell smile which Matt does and I get a photo of them together and I get a snap of me and Karen before they go in. During the signing itself it was over the top strict with the guards snatching things out of your hand and no 27 seconds to talk to the actors which I was peeved over once back outside we wait for them but its only to wave them off and then the journey ends with the trip home.
