I don't remember if I wrote about this at the time, but I saw a movie a month or two ago called The Fall directed by Tarsem, who had previously done The Cell and a number of commercials.
In short, it is one of the most spectacular films I've ever seen in my life, and I'm willing to bet it will always remain that way.
It is classic storytelling, but with all of the emotional depth you could want, and it is interwoven with a fairy tale that is presented in the most amazing way. It exceeded all of my expectations. I can't even put it into words, it's so beautiful. It's one of those films that makes me love everything about film making and storytelling.
The director spent millions out of his own pocket and spent years upon years developing and producing this film. The end product can only be described as a film maker's fantasy. You will watch the film and want to watch it again. Even then, there will be things you'll miss.
It comes out on DVD in September. I'm hoping to get Travis at Village Green Records to show it at Mo's. The best part of that is that the movie screenings are free admission, so maybe we can get a big turnout and I can feel even better that I got to show this to an audience that might not have otherwise seen it.
