today was AMAZING!
well, first of all, i knew it would be somewhat relaxed, because i was exused from all my academic classes, but it all definitely turned out even better than expected.
sorry if this makes anyone jealous...(actually what you are about to read will probably SOUND less cool than it really was).
the cast of songs for a new world was asked to do a performance for an elementary school, because the group that was to perform for them cancelled. well, it turned out that the group of kids we performed for were AMAZING, and that's no exaggeration. these kids were all considered the most talented academically (something like 99.9% on their GATE tests), and they could sing! this one kid, Daniel, sang this amazing song in spanish, and apparently he has a solo as a street merchant in La Boheme at the Civic. (...they sang for us, we sang for them, we all talked about CoSA, we all had a great time.) the best part about it, though, was that they weren't at all shy; we actually blended with them quite well. They got to ask us questions, ("how does tony sing the really high notes?" heh! i don't really know!) WE EVEN JOINED THEM FOR RECESS! i played basketball with collin, dorothy, aly, and about 12 elementary schoolers, (big kids versus little kids!). Later, when the cast of songs split up and we each grouped with about three to seven kids, some boys came to me because they said i had "basketball skills." HAHAHA!!!!!!!! (riiiighhht.) Their favorite song seemed to be steamtrain, which i think is hilarious for multiple reasons. ANNNYYYWAYYY, long story short, the kids were awesome, and they thought we were, too.
Anyway, the rest of the day was also pretty great. on the way back from the elementary school, jeremy (who was driving me, steph, collin, and dorothy), decided to drive like kirk does, and race him back to the school...well, long story short, we scared the shit out of kirk, flipped off everyone in his car, almost killed ourselves, nearly were pulled over, and, yes, beat kirk back to the school. ...next it was time for in-n-out, which is always great, i don't care what you say...
directing class hardly did a thing, (since the show has passed...which went pretty damn well, by the way). I leared about "shoeless joe" during rep, and even received pleasant words from someone i thought would never want to help me with anything ever again. (yes, i'm talking about jackee...thanks again, by the way.) To end the day, we watched the dance troupe from UCSB perform, and they were great...except that the director of the troupe had some serious issues with cammel toe...there, i said it.
Now, it's nearly time to see ems and tell her everything you've read here. WHAT A FUCKING AWESOME DAY! (if it doesn't sound cool to you...well, i just don't care.)
