This is in no way a joke, but in fact excerpts from actual letter sent to Jay, the director of the Purdue Marching Band:

Dear Professor Jay Gephart:

CCITI (China Cultural International Tours Inc.) is pleased to inform you that the Purdue "All American" Marching Band has been selected as one of the official music groups to perform in Beijing in 2008 at "The Meet in Beijing" International Arts and Music Festival. It is important to note that this is the first such invitation issued to an American college band...

CPPA(The China Performing Arts Agency) and the Ministry of Culture, People's Republic of China are currently working with the Organizing Committee of The Olympic Cultural Events Office to include "Meet in Beijing Arts Music Festival" as part of the music and cultural events surrounding the Olympic Games in Beijing. We want to make you aware of the fact that "The Meet in Beijing Arts and Music Festival" is the most important arts and music festival in China... We do not need to stress the importance of the Olympic Games for China. This will be a major event not only for China but the world.

Sincerely yours,
Deputy General of CCITI,
Hu Xiangchen

Now it isn't set that we are going for sure, (its going to cost a lot...) but the fact remains that the Chinese government (at least a branch of it) has invited us to come perform at the Great Wall, Tiananmen Square, etc. And we're the first ones to do it... ever.

Thats pretty awesome even if we don't end up going.
