From Beale Street to Boone (with a face full of Bats)

The past couple of days have been interesting to say the least. Megan came into town on Saturday after a harrowing flight delay the previous night. Barring a few frustrations (speeding ticket, a really random sinus headache) it was a decadent weekend filled with booze and video games. Thankfully both of us agreed that my moving up this soon wouldn't be very advantageous. After dropping Megan off at the airport I got back in and discovered a message from Jeff. The CPR class had been merged with the Swift Water Rescue class. SWR basically is meant to teach you how to help people when all hell breaks loose on the river. I do the Watauga so I didn't really need it (we're not rafting through an isolated gorge like the Noli crew) but since they were also teaching CPR I had to go.
So after passing out in my chair (Sorry Megan) I woke up an hour before training. After being thrown out of our "Rescue" raft all day my ass was beat. Got the CPR cert. that I needed though. Talked to Mike and Julie yesterday, and on top of the general awesomeness of seeing them and partying they're also hooking us party peeps up with tickets to Dave Attell! The show we're attending is also going to be taped by Comedy Central! I saw him back in 2004 with Lewis Black and Mitch Hedburg and I'm VERY excited now.
As for the future, I have a caving trip tomorrow. Some guy and his girlfriend, but the crazy part is that I'll be taking them in alone, with no sweep. Everyone else is on the Watauga or Noli that day, so barring any catastrophic bat encounters everything should run smoothly. If not, well then you'll know why I haven't updated the journal in a while since now ;)  Also in other news CLUTCH is playing in NC at two locations this summer, Ashville and Jacksonville. Right now I can't decide if I'm willing to just go to the Ashville (Hippy armpit of the South) show or if I should also try to make it to the one in Jacksonville (aka. Marine Corps Base armpit of the south). More updates soon, in the meantime stay classy LJ.
