Well, the unthinkable has happened...
Pink Floyd reunited with estranged member Roger Waters for the momentus occasion of the Live 8 concert in London yesterday. For the first time in 24 years, Roger and David Gilmour played on the same stage together. And by played I mean that they performed just like in the old days. It was pure harmony, and the Pink Floyd I adore was one again.
Although I had access to various forms of media broadcasting the event, it doesn't compare to the sheer joy I would have felt had I been in London to witness it for myself. The rumor floating through the media now is that this marked the unofficial farewell of Pink Floyd, and I refuse to accept that. If only I had become such a huge fan sooner, when they were still touring. But alas, I was only 12 and knew nothing more than a few songs and an orchestral CD that my dad listened to. My generation is filled with Floyd fans, and I know that a Floyd Farewell tour would generate more money than anyone could ever imagine. But will it become a reality? One can only dream...
