Feeling Nostalgic. Decided to throw away some very old (10+yrs old) computer programming and Linux books, as they are too out-of-date to be useful anymore.
But, in doing so, reviewed and really _looked_ at my shelves of computer stuff. My eyes lingered on my Red Hat Boxed Linux, v7.1 that I bought back-in-the-day, 2001, when I was in college, and wanted to be able to do Computer Science class assignments from home, instead of fighting for a seat in the Cal State Long Beach computer labs (before I figured out the Linux/Unix labs always had free seats).
So, decided to make a post about it, and ..er, honor RH and the fact that, thanks to them having a boxed set at a computer store, they gave me my start in being a Linux user/advocate/hobbyist.
It was only once RH stopped having a boxed-set available to the user, did I get (forced was how I felt at the time) get exposed to having to find an alternative Linux distribution, and discovered Debian.
I cannot exactly remember the exact year I switched. (I guess I could go look it up, but don't feel like it at the moment.) EDIT: I looked it up, 2005. But I am glad I did pick Debian, as I have been using Debian ever since.
