Grandparents and grandkids had most of the day together yesterday.
Wifey and I went from Keizer to Portland to check out Powell's bookstore
http://powells.com Used our Magellan GPS to route us there. It did a good job! Powell's parking is very trippy, in that the ramps up to the above ground parking spots feel like a 30-degree grade!
At Powell's I purchased "Living like ED - A Guide to the Eco-Friendly Life" by Ed Begley, Jr. It is written in conversational style on what Ed has done to be more eco-friendly, and has rated them according to difficulty and expense. There is some fun counter-comments by his wife, whom is a bit less extreme in her green-ness. It felt good to see I have already done some of the low hanging fruit he mentions, and got some good ideas for other areas that I am still investigating, or hadn't thought to try. Specifically I am still researching getting an all electric car for myself. Ed owns a Phoenix Motorcars SUT. They are based locally to me in Ontario California. Price is full price of approximately $45k, but it is a 100mile, full highway speed vehicle.
(For now, I still think my best pragmatic choice is a GEM e2 NEV, since I use public transportation 100% during the workweek, and only need something of NEV capability for runs to local stores, or weekend travel when the bus schedule is too infrequent for some of my activities.)
But, I look forward to trying some of the other things Ed mentions that we have yet to try at my house.
Wife traded in some used romance books for store credit, then purchased some new fantasy books for her.
