Well, it's that time again. There will be either five or six new poems written during the process of this semester. I'll go ahead and post the poem that I turned in last night. Please comment to let me know what you think, as I'd like to have a heads up on what the class is going to think of it. I love all the positive and critical responses you might have to feel free to lambast it if it's horrible.
Thanks and enjoy.
A Strand
A single black hair,
stretched along the bar of Coast
in my bathroom's shower-stall,
dug into the soap's blue and white ocean layers.
A single strand from between her brown legs,
left the night of roof-top dancing,
a midnight walk in two parks,
when my words were useless, as we stood in the shower.
The water gave half-spurts, from the showerhead,
only half of it reaching our bodies.
Drying ourselves with damp towels,
she hits: a forgotten ice water...
more of my useless words
hushed by footsteps outside.
As her car pulled away,
scraping along the driveway,
I found a piece of her hair almost covered in suds,
all she left behind.
