Lately....

Yes, yes, it's been a long time. Livejournal stopped seeming like a wise investment of my time, as I have been constantly busy lately. Part of me sees it as an extension of my youth (not blogging, but livejournal), and the whole point of this year has been about becoming an "adult." I'm considering changing the forum a bit (irepurposewrenches.blogspot.com? ienjoylistsofmylife.blogspot.com?) which seems a tad absurd, but perhaps that's what I need to get me writing again. I know I will value knowing what I was doing as a24 year old in Los Angeles, whenever I actually look back.

Anyway, here's what I've been doing lately:
1. I lost twenty pounds since the beginning of the year, which I've been meaning to do since I was probably 14. Being a healthier person makes me immeasurably happier. I still have ten or fifteen more to go, and I know I'll get to them when I'm ready.

2. The catalyst for losing weight (because clearly being unhealthy and overweight is not catalyst enough. See: USofA), Bronwyn and Jon's marriage. I absolutely loved being a part of their wedding. I completely and totally heart weddings, so it wasn't much of a stretch to love the one of close friends, but still. It was a great experience and their sheer joy was palpable. Enjoy some photos here. Others I love: the bride and groom, waiting for Jon, which looks so posed but it actually wasn't, their "first look", groom's party, bridal party, me and the bride, mike and i at the reception, the cupcake toppers, which bronwyn and i tried to fix and then broke, and finally, Sagehens at the wedding (I would choose this one to look a little rough, wouldn't I).

3. Magic Mountain. We went to Magic Mountain yesterday. After almost falling asleep outside (books in hand) with blaringly loud everything going on, we realized we are too damn old for that shit. X2 was INSANEly awesome though. We parked about a mile away so we wouldn't have to pay $15 for parking and Mike says to me on the way out "some ladies wouldn't appreciate a man who made them walk 2 miles to save $15, would they." But I do.

4. Work, oh, work. I have been working large and crazy events, one of which included a gala for 650 people, more than 100 volunteers, and over 500 auction items. We raised 2.4 million for Music Center Education, and while I did probably more than my fair share of complaining (at least mental complaining) about the event, after all is said and done I am damn proud to be a part of that.

I had one more thing to write about, which is So You Think You Can Dance, which is a tad silly, I know. BUT IT'S SO GOOD!!! Dudes, you HAVE to watch. The dancing on that show is just more moving than... than.... other reality shows, I guess. It explains why dance is so incredibly valuable as an art form, and broadcasts it to millions of people. That's one good reality tv show, in my opinion. I was going to post a youtube clip of Mia Michael's work from this week, but apparently Dick Clark Productions is copyright claiming up a storm on YouTube. Suffice to say, it blew me away. Side note, I had the amazing opportunity to meet and speak with Mia Michaels (a contemporary choreographer - well known in her own right, and also choreographs for the show) at a work event and holy crap that woman is amazing. She is freakishly inspirational.

And that is it for now. I may decide to move to another forum for talking about me (my favorite activity!) soon. If I do, I'll let you know. "You" being, I assume, my parents, brother, boyfriend, and maybe two or three friends at this point.
