absolutely ridiculous weekend at osu. not even going to get into it.
i just watched the motorcycle diaries finally. i think i only enjoyed it because the story interests me, because it wasn't very well written. or acted. too long, pretty average.
drove to cincinnati this morning to meet with uc's assistant dean about financial aid. i've never done this before, and it's a little nerveracking. overall, though, the visit was fabulous. i got to sit in on a civil procedure class, and it just didn't seem as overwhelming as i was afraid it might be. but the best part was learning about the
human rights institute. for the first time i can honestly say i have a general idea of something i'd like to do. this program offers so many opportunities to work at things that really make a difference. apparently the journal of human rights law is edited at uc by faculty and students who are awarded fellowships by the institute. while i'm pretty sure i'm not qualified for a fellowship right now for lack of experience in human rights work, the fellowships are a year long, and fellows have to re-apply every year. the institute does a lot of work attracting and scheduling distinguished speakers, holding conferences/symposia/seminars, researching articles for the human rights journal, and works "very closely" with uc's women's studies department. if i can get involved enough during my first year then maybe i can make it happen my second year, which would include a fat stipend and an opportunity for a summer externship at some ridiculously awesome place either domestic or abroad. according to the website the deadline to apply is april 1. time to start working on a kickass statement of interest. i think i've found a three-year goal.
EDIT: the other thing that happened recently was that i watched grey's anatomy for the first time. i wasn't expecting much, so i wasn't disappointed. i was just really bored right up until the guy exploded, and then from that part until the end.
