10K

Two weeks ago, I did the practice 10K with the YMCA training team. About half way through my hip really started hurting, so I walked the rest of it.

I rested between then and today, and thought I was ok. Unfortunately, I only managed to actually run about 1/3 of the 10K today, which makes me very sads. But I did finish, and I did come in in under 90 minutes, even if I walked the vast majority of it.

So, I don't really feel like this is a huge victory, but it's not bad.

Going forward, I'm going to rest in April--use the stationary bike, allow whatever is not happy in the hip/glute/whatever area to heal. And then in May I'm going to start back at 1 mile. Allow myself to progress more slowly and naturally. I do hope, wherever I am, to be able to try another 10K next spring.

When I did a 5K at the beginning of the month, I kicked ass and felt great about it (Well, I mean, I didn't "win" but I did well). So, I think it was just that I progressed too quickly from 5K to 10K.
