Prompt: Nate and Jie being morons
“She’s going to kill you.” Jie smirked as he downed some of his beer, watching his friend make a mess in his wife’s kitchen.
Nate looked up from the chicken he was flouring. “Nope. She’s going to kill us both.” He grinned as flipped the chicken in the bowl, “accidentally” flinging flour onto Jie as he did so. “Me, she’ll forgive. Since making dinner for her is sweet, even if it’s messy and is greasy American fare.”
Rolling his eyes, Jie put down his beer and moved to the sink, washing his hands. “All right, what do you need me to do?”
He nodded towards the potatoes sitting on the counter. “Scrub, peel, and cut. The crinkle cutter is in the top drawer.”
Jie grumbled about slave labor, even as he rolled up his sleeves and began to scrub a potato. “I don’t see why I’m the one who got roped into helping you with this.”
“Well, Zoe’s on baby duty tonight since Ami’s on call; Kadir’s smart enough that the moment I said I was cooking for Makoto, he hung up on me; and Mamoru already had plans with Usagi and Usa.” The smirk was clear in Nate’s voice, though Jie was not able to see his expression, and no empathy was needed to realize that the other man was amused.
“Asshole.” Jie took his frustration out on the potato, scrubbing it so hard that some of the skin started to come off without peeling.
A bit of flour landed in Jie’s hair as Nate more intentionally, with no pretense of accident this time.
“Hey!” The blonde man turned to glare at his friend who was smirking. “Is that how you thank someone who is helping you even at the threat to his own life?”
Nate shrugged as he forcibly bumped the other man out of the way to wash his hands. “If you were truly concerned about your safety, you would’ve offered your own kitchen.” Having just messed with raw chicken, the brunette made sure to thoroughly scrub his hands before moving to turn up the heat on the oil in the deep fryer.

By the time Makoto came home, Nate and Jie had cleaned up most the flour and all the flung potato skins had been picked out of the crevices in which they had landed. Jie waved at Makoto as he slipped out past her, muttering, “Go easy on him.”
Amused, she chuckled, “I expect you to get my kitchen back into shipshape, but….” Smiling she moved to him and kissed him. “I’ll forgive you, because this is sweet.”
He grinned into the kiss and then lead her to the table, not seeing the distrustful look she gave the food.
