venusorbit1 Prompt: Live Babbies either at the beach or a ski lodge
It was rare to see Ami being overtly physically affectionate towards Zoe, so when Makoto saw the way that Ami’s fingers were running through the strawberry blonde curls and how her fingers kept slipping underneath the other woman’s coat, she grinned and immediately claimed the children for the rest of the day. She suspected it was the snow that was making Ami extra amorous, but didn’t ask.
Nate had smirked, winked at his sister, and taken Charis along with Alora and Ethan to the bunny slope--amused that a certain Bunny was also there being helped up by her husband. Riley was too young for the slopes, so Makoto had taken him to the ice ring, while he taught the older three children how to ski.
Lessons, however did not last long. Even the daughter of the Senshi of Water and Ice had little interest in skiing, and after the fifth time he tried to explain how to control speed was interrupted by a snow ball, he decided to give in. Turning to the troublemakers--Charis and Ethan, he grinned as he tackled to the two to the ground. “Did someone say snow fight?”
Charis laughed and squirmed under her Uncle’s arm, managing to slip away from his grasp, since he had been holding the both of them down. Ethan was free only moments after her. Quickly she gathered up a handful of snow and packed it together into a ball, which she threw at Nate, who barely managed to dodge it, only to be hit by one from Ethan.
From the sidelines, Alora chuckled, but when Usa and Kaela came up, the three pre-adolescents snuck off to ski on the real slopes and, of course, to meet boys. Frowning a bit as he watched his baby girl heading off, giggling with the older two, he turned to Charis, “Munchkin, promise your Uncle Nate that you’ll never be boy crazy.” Thinking about her mothers, he added, “Or girl crazy.”
“Kays!” The six-year old cheerfully agreed after throwing another snow ball at him and before preparing another. This one hit him in the chin, though he was only mildly surprised it managed to stay together seeing how soft it was.
“Good girl.” He grinned as he felt another one hit him from the side, “Teaming up against the old man, huh? Not very sporting, kids.” Nate made a feint towards Charis and then turned and grabbed up Ethan in one arm.
“Charis, run! Save yourself!” He laughed as Ethan encouraged his cousin to get away.
“Nuh-uh! I save you, like…” Her voice dropped to a conspiratorial whisper. The children began training when they were five, though it was mostly just basics and directed games for the younger ones. “Sailor Mercury.”
Nate had to smile that she had chosen her mother rather than Sailor Moon--and he was pretty sure Usagi would agree with him. He didn’t have long though, before a brave little girl was plowing into his legs, trying to force him to lose his grip on Ethan. The plan was not the best thought out. After all, if he did loosen his grip, his son would fall--though not far and onto fairly soft snow, but the attempt was valiant.
For a moment, Nate pretended like she had thrown him off balance, being careful even as he jostled Ethan to keep it gentle--just enough to make the boy squeal and laugh. “You think you can take me, huh?” He smirked before snatching her up, as well, one child in each arm. He ran with them, grinning like a mad man as they squealed and laughed.
After a couple of moments, he found a nearby embankment, and carefully “fell” into it so that they were all sprawled in the snow, laughing.
The children wasted no time in rolling onto their backs and making snow angels.
“Daddy! Do it! It’s fun!” Ethan was enthusiastically flapping his “wings” and moving his feet to create a skirt like impression.
“Yours will be the biggest snow angel ever!” Charis was reaching above her head, trying to draw a halo without getting up and ruining her angel.
He laughed as he gave into their cajoling, moving his arms and legs to make the imprint, when he heard a different musical laugh. Looking up, he saw Makoto standing above them, with a squirming Riley who clearly wanted to make his own angel.
She let him down, smiling as he moved to his sister’s side and mimicked his Uncle Nate’s motions. “So, I was going to ask who wanted to come in and warm up for a bit with hot chocolate, but I wasn’t expecting to find three children.”
Grinning, Nate stood up, surveyed his angel, and that of the kids as they’d jumped up at Makoto’s question, saying, “Me! Me!” Turning from the angels, he nodded, “Good job. Best snow angels I’ve ever seen.” He then turned back to his wife and kissed her chastely, “I don’t know why not, love. I’m pretty sure you knew what you were getting when you married me.”
