Cool: I finished 2nd in my class in a downhill mountain bike race last weekend
Not that cool: There were only two people in my class. I would have had a solid midpack finish if I raced a division up, so I'm not too bummed.
Great: I weighed in at 163 lbs last week, 17 lbs down on my New Years weight
Also great: I did a 62 mile roadbike ride with my friend Heather last week. Part of the ride included Sierra Road, the Cat 1 climb in the Tour of California
Even better: I managed to stay ahead of Heather on the climbs. For the past year, she consistently ran away from me whenever we hit the hills. The weight loss and additional training is working!
Not so good: Together, we had four flat tires.
Heather: Hold on, I got another flat?
Me: Another? Jeez, you should get the tires I have. I haven't gotten a flat yet!
Heather: You better knock on wood!
Me: Shit, there's nothing around here. Not even a signpost or a fencepost.
(five minutes later)
*pop*
Me: Oh shit, guess what....
Very good: I'm all clear to enroll as an Industrial Engineering upper division transfer this fall at San Jose State.
All in all, I'd say things are pretty good :)
